Mohammadreza's work
I found this site I'm not sure how long ago, but definitely quite some time before I began my blog. He claims he is not a photographer but I am absolutely in love with his work that is both simple and dynamic. He has an amazing eye. Have a look and spend some time pondering his incredible work. It's a place that feels sacred to me and one I visit often. Below are just a few of the photos I love- though honestly, it's impossible to make such a choice.

a walk in the woods
wandering in a chilled breeze through some local woods about a week ago. i'd thought my pentax was on the blitz but it seems all is well as this roll came out so beautifully. how i love capturing these memories of one of our favorite pastimes... breathing in the woody fresh air, bathing in dappled sunlight through the towering trees, holding hands, musing about what we hear and feel and see.

a country road on our way home from seeing family, christmas eve day.
the magic of Santa, who came in the night to hang ribbon for E.
the joy of new toys and stickers and books.
unwrapped and under the tree :)
our dishwasher after breakfast.
a little bowling with the family gift.
and a much needed nap before dinner.
making music with friends christmas night.
J (her godfather) helping with the trombone.
A (E's godmother) and Iris, their newest greyhound.
a glass of red wine.
love between A and Sabrina...
all in the glow of christmas light.
this year was filled with magic.
hope yours was too.

pictured here is the nativity i grew up with, that i remember from my first days that memory came to be. it was my favorite "decoration" that kept me engaged and intrigued for hours. in the 40+ years that my mom was married to my dad, this traveled with us through every christmas... from Maryland to Bangladesh to Iran to Texas and finally here. i was deeply honored that my mom left such a cherished keepsake to me and i love it as much as she did.
hope everyone is having a warm and happy christmas :)

If you have taken this rubble for my past
raking through it for fragments you could sell
know that i long ago moved on
deeper into the heart of the matter
If you think you can grasp me, think again:
my story flows in more than one direction
a delta springing from the riverbed
with its five fingers spread

and once in awhile, a good roll of film.
the warmth of a beautiful sunset on the prairie 15 minutes south of our little house. the thrill of rushing to beat the clock before the sun disappears. and the bigger thrill of waiting for these rolls to come back, never imagining that for a moment and maybe for the first time, you felt you'd captured the world just as it was on that day.
